Come join our team! We have increased our starting wage! A dietary cook prepares and serves meals that meet specific dietary requirements, ensuring nutrition, safety, and compliance with health guidelines in healthcare or institutional settings.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare food items according to instructions and recognized safe food handling practices
  • Prepares food for all patients, and guests, regular and modified diets according to procedure
  • Demonstrates proper use and storage of equipment and maintains a clean environment, including utensils, floors, equipment
  • Maintains a safe working environment by following all safety procedures, including the use of Standard Precautions, proper storage and use of chemicals, and properly securing the Food Service area
  • Cleans, maintains, and sanitizes all pots, pans, trash containers, cooking utensils, floor, shelves, coolers, freezers, store rooms, dining room, service area, and equipment to exceed any, and all inspections
  • Must be able to manage the dietary department in the absence of the dietary manager when necessary and act as the supervisor when the manager or assistant manager is not available
  • Follows menus provided
  • Must show initiative in choosing garnishes, seasonings according to patient/resident preferences, the use of leftovers, and in food presentation and service

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must be able to adjust recipes to achieve desired results
  • Must be able to read and comprehend recipes or instructions on prepackaged products
  • Must have the ability to perform several tasks concurrently
  • Must have skills in maintaining information as highly confidential
  • Must maintain self-control in hostile customer service interactions
  • Education

    High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience

    Mid Level (3-6 years)
